Kee Safety worked closely with one of our partners to provide a safe and effective rooftop Step Over solution for a large hospital in Crewe, Cheshire.
The Problem
Our partner was working with a national construction company and Mid-Cheshire NHS Trust to convert part of the existing hospital structure into an additional patient ward.
The hospital had new HVAC equipment installed on the roof, which meant regular access would be required for maintenance and repair. However, existing pipework made access potentially unsafe. Our partner was tasked with finding and supplying a safe means of access over pipework across five different sections of the roof.
Thanks to our existing partnership, they immediately contacted Kee Safety Limited with measurements and requirements and asked us to provide an effective solution, knowing we were more than up to the task.
The Solution
Kee Safety immediately recognised that our Step Overs would be the perfect solution to overcome the trip hazards posed by the pipework.

We knew immediately that the Step Overs would be the key to solving the issue with the pipework on this project, so we quickly responded with a quote and drawings for approval. Once we had the go-ahead, we were able to quickly supply the parts needed.
The Result
Thanks to the product modular nature, Kee Safety can supply our Step Over Platforms pre-assembled, in sections small enough for one person to carry and manoeuvre into position on the roof without a crane.
The five Step Overs arrived on site less than two weeks from the date they were ordered. With no specialist tools required, our partners were able to quickly install them without any fuss.
The customer was very happy with the final result, and are now able to safely access the rooftop HVAC equipment for maintenance. The Step Overs themselves are incredibly hardwearing thanks to the hot-dip galvanised Kee Klamp fittings used in their construction and will last for decades with very little maintenance.
