Kee Lite® Aluminium Tubular Fittings
A Lightweight Alternative to Steel Structures with an Aesthetic Look and Design
Since 1934, Kee Safety Ltd has been dedicated to providing the world with a versatile, economical, and durable method of building tubular structures. Kee Lite & Kee Klamp fittings are available in more countries, more styles, more sizes, and more colors than any other brand of structural fitting.
Innovative
Kee Lite aluminium fittings are a versatile product that are used in the construction of railings, safety barriers, racks, greenhouses, structural framework, and thousands of other uses. Large, recessed stainless steel grub screws resist corrosion and thread stripping, with maximum surface contact with tube, while providing a smooth appearance. Colour powder coating is also easy to achieve if required.
Lightweight and Corrosion Resistant
Kee Lite fittings are made from high grade Aluminium Silicon Magnesium Alloy (A356-T6) which provide for a lightweight, corrosion resistant, and strong alternative for fabrication of tubular structures. Due to the superior corrosion resistance, Kee Lite components offer extremely low maintenance in outdoor settings. Kee Lite components are only one-third the weight of our iron components, with about 75% of comparable tensile strength.
Easy Assembly
Kee Lite fittings are installed using only a standard hex key – no threading or welding required. No headaches about hot-permits, specialised labour or equipment. A standard hex key and tube cutters are the only tools required to create strong, rigid structures. Recessed grub screws, tightened by the hex key, firmly lock the tube into the fitting. No pre-fabrication of tube structures in shop – everything can be assembled and built on site. They are also reusable should you wish to dismantle or redesign your structure.
Affordable
Fabricating and building with Kee Lite aluminium fittings saves time, money, and resources.

General Questions
- Are Kee Lite fittings available with alternative finishes?
- Kee Lite fittings are available anodized or powder coated to your colour requirements on a special order basis.
- Does the size of the grub screw matter?
- Yes, the size and style of grub screw does matter. The large grub screw with a hardened cup point used in Kee Lite fittings cut into the tube and provides the highest rated slip load in the industry.
- What about the fittings being tampered with?
- Grub screw inserts are available to deter tampering with a finished Kee Lite structure.
- What are Kee Lite fittings used for?
- The most common applications for Kee Lite fittings is hand rail and guard rail, the contours designed into Kee Lite components give a smoother appearance and better look than typical non welded systems. Various other tubular-structures such as retail store fixtures, soft contained play systems, awning, fencing, machinery framework, can be economically produced with Kee Lite fittings.
- What are Kee Lite structural slip-on tube fittings?
- Kee Lite structural slip-on tube fittings are made from a high grade Aluminium Silicon Magnesium Aloy. Kee Lite components are used in conjunction with BS EN 755 Aluminum tube to build structures of unlimited size and scope. Stainless steel grub screws attach the fittings securely around the tube. There is no welding, drilling, or bolting required when building with Kee Lite components. The only tools required for building Kee Lite structures are a tube cutter and a standard hex key.
- What style or types are available?
- The Kee Lite range is a product line that is expanding constantly. Please check our updated online catalogue for the current availability.
- What type of pipe or tubing can be used with Kee Lite fittings?
- Kee Lite fittings are designed to be used with Aluminium Tubing to BS EN 755.
Installation Questions
- What size hex key is used with Kee Lite fittings?
- Kee Lite fittings use the following imperial hex key sizes. Size 6 (33.7mm o/d) uses ¼” A.F. (across the flats), Kee Lite components for sizes 7 to 9 (42.4mm o/d to 60.3mm o/d) uses 5/16” A.F. (across the flats). The ability to use ¼” and 5/16” hex keys makes building a structure with Kee Lite fittings quick and easy.
Technical Questions
- What is the recommended torque for the grub screws?
- When constructing with Kee Lite fittings we recommend that you tighten the grub screw to 29 lbs./ft. or 39 Nm. This is approximately "hand-tight." Apart from size 6 Kee Lite components. The setting for tightening the grub screw for this size components is 25 Nm ( 19 lb.ft). The theoretical design slip load ( factored ) per grub screw will be around 4.90 KN at this reduced torque setting.
- What quality certifications has Kee Lite attained?
- The majority of the Kee Lite components range are TUV tested and approved.
- Which sizes of tube can I use with Kee Lite fittings?
- Most types of Kee Lite fittings are available to suit tube sizes 33.7mm o/d (size 6), 42.4mm o/d (size 7) & 48.3mm o/d (size 8) and even a few to suit 60.3mm o/d (size 9). Please refer to brochure to check availability.
- Will Kee Lite fittings corrode if used outdoors?
- Kee Lite fittings are Aluminium Silicon Magnesium Alloy (A 356-T6) a highly corrosion resistant alloy. If conditions, require the components can be anodized for additional corrosion resistance. Kee Lite components are fitted with Stainless Steel grub screws to resist corrosion.
- Will the fittings or the grub screw strip tightening to 29 lbs./ft 39Nm?
- No, the large diameter grub screws and the British Standard Thread used, along with the alloy of the component, give you the correct combination to create a strong mechanical joint between the fitting and the tube.
